Beyond the Ice

My name is Jackie and I am the Douglas County Schools rep with the Colorado Avalanche. We have a special career focused event coming up in March called Beyond the Ice, and I would love to have your students there! I know you are a Cyber School, but do you have a lot of students close to the Metro Area?

Beyond the Ice is all about educating students about the different jobs we have here at Pepsi Center and a look into all of the different departments it takes to successfully run a hockey game! We bring the students down for an exclusive behind the scenes tour of the Pepsi Center before the game, they get to meet representatives from different departments like Marketing, the Ice Crew, Ticket Sales, TV/Broadcasting, Human Resources, Community Relations, etc. and can ask them questions about their job and then enjoy our Avalanche Game afterward!

I attended a similar program to Beyond the Ice when I was a Senior in High School/Freshman in College, and about two months after I graduated I was able to start my career in Sports. I would love to help students learn more about this industry and open up their minds to new opportunities!

MAPS Exploration Event

On April 2nd, 2018, Highlands Ranch High School will be hosting a MAPS Exploration from 5:15-8:00 pm. MAPS = Military and Protective Services

The MAPS Exploration is a one-day event in which students and their families explore military and protective services careers and pathways. This unique event brings parents and students to an evening forum where they receive information about the opportunities and options available to current high school students and soon to be graduates that the military and protective services provide. This event is more than just obtaining information about enlisting in the military. The Career Exploration Workshop allows students and parents to converse with embers of the military and protective services, obtain information about career pathways that go beyond enlisting and establish connections.

To participate in this event, students and their parents MUST REGISTER using this link. In addition, please extend this invitation to those in your network who might be interested.

For videos from GoArmy Colorado, click here. Major Renae Binstock will be our keynote speaker for the evening; to see an outline of her resume, click here.
