Middle School Course Information

Colorado Cyber offers quality online middle school education for students in Colorado. The following information is a summary of grade level expectations in our courses. Go to our course guide for more details on Colorado Cyber curriculum.

Math – Sixth grade math builds a solid foundation by covering a wide range of mathematics. Seventh and 8th grade math build upon that foundation, strengthening basic skills and introducing challenging problems. Other math courses middle school students have the opportunity to take are pre-algebra, algebra 1 and geometry.

Science – The Colorado Cyber middle school science program begins with 6th grade science. Students are introduced to the world of science through topics such as animals, the Earth, electricity and magnetism. Seventh and 8th grade science share a spiraling curriculum of life, Earth and physical sciences.   

Language Arts – Sixth grade language arts includes research-based instruction in reading and writing. Focus is put on phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and text comprehension. Seventh and 8th grade courses are comprehensive studies of communication through reading, writing, speaking and listening.

Social Studies – Sixth, 7th and 8th grade social studies courses include a wide range of stimulating topics. Students can explore everything from the civilizations of Egypt, India and Rome to the many facets of the United States.

Exploratories/Electives – There are nine exploratory/elective programs that middle school students can choose from. They can discover their creative side in the discovering digital painting course or explore a new language in our discovering French program.
