Welcome to eDCSD, a public school option for students in the Douglas County School District in Colorado! Our mission is to work within our community and partner with students at the K-12 level, parents and our staff members to provide 21st century skills and a strong educational foundation. By utilizing Web 2.0 tools and methodologies, homeschool or traditional classroom students can build skills in critical thinking, constructivism and inquiry. Technology is an integral part of our world today, and with it eDCSD students learn to find context for what they learn, discover the connections between their lessons, and collaborate with their peers and instructors as they continually learn in our virtual elementary, middle or high school.
All of the most important components of a strong education have been incorporated into the online learning environment. In addition, eDCSD students enjoy even greater flexibility in scheduling and regular feedback from their instructors. eDCSD courses combine self-directed, independent exploration with time spent in the “Virtual Classroom” so students can still enjoy the structure of guided learning as they take initiative for their own studies.
Lessons in the eDCSD school are tightly aligned to both state standards and district essential learnings. Students are engaged by assignments that are supported by iTexts, web investigations, Power Point presentations, videos and pod-casts. Daily lessons are guided by instructors and activities can help students master new skills as they prepare for assessments. These activities may include skills practice or group projects and collaboration.
This authentic learning environment can make the difference in your student’s life and education experience. Help your child enhance success with eDCSD.
